The Void I Destroyed
{ © Aishah Ansari Photography}
Someone please hand me a flashlight,
I need to be able to see in this fight.
Then, I realize it is all in my mind.
The light shines, and a void I find.

It is not that I need someone reassure me,
Yet I need to find that key.
Because I have learned I do not control the wind,
The light shines, and a void I find.

At times I take a stumble,
and I hear the thunder rumble.
I have hit that rock bottom,
Coincidentally it is always autmn.
But I am no longer in a bind,
The light shines, and a void I find.

It's been almost seven years,
And now I am more aware of my fears.
I am stronger than before,
and my mind controls me no more.
For my limits are no longer defined,
and finally
The light shines, and a void I no longer find.

The void,
I finally destroyed.
I no longer need a flashlight to guide me,
Because I know to let my myself be, to let my mind.
I have left the past behind,
The light continues to shine, and a void I no longer find.
