Fearful Future
I thought I had a solid plan...
like sand the faster my grip on it the quicker it has slipped away.
My plan is no more.
What plan do I follow?
What path do I walk?
Where do I go?
What do I do?
I am scared
I am angry
I am lost
I am confused
I am sad
I am disappointed
These are all the fears I am facing, all at once.
For once, I am fearful of the future
But I will face tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Aishah

Prompt: Fear/Facing Fears
To face down our fears takes courage. Writing poetry sometimes helps us 'see' what we do not take time to understand about ourselves and our futures (or our pasts). My favorite line here ("like sand, the faster my grip, the faster it has slipped away"). You ask the reader to consider what remains, and I can only answer hope and courage and beauty. Even in questions, the poem shows these three.
ReplyDeleteHey Beth, yes it's true facing our fears does take strength. I agree- that's why I let my poems express how I'm feeling, I think it's a great outlet.
DeleteThank you Beth, I really appreciate it. I really hope I see the hope, courage, and beauty soon. Thank you so much for you kind comment. I really appreciate it!
Sincerely,
Aishah
I love the hope in the last line. I love how you kept the middle short but still getting to the point, you can feel the rush and fear. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fifi, have to keep hope even when you feel hopeless, right?
DeleteThank you, I appreciate your kind words!
Sincerely,
Aishah
A powerful poem that tells it like it is. We all have this kind of fear from timeto time, but determination and persistence gets us over them eventually.
ReplyDeleteYes it does. Fear is a part of life we have to learn to face it, right?
DeleteThanks so much for your comment!
Sincerely,
Aishah
